Urine Routine Examination
₹170
The urine routine examination evaluates the physical, chemical, and microscopic features of urine, including color, pH, specific gravity, protein, glucose, ketones, bilirubin, pus cells, RBCs, casts, and crystals.
Pus cells, nitrites, and bacteria indicate a urinary tract infection (UTI). Protein, RBCs, or casts suggest kidney disease. Glucose and ketones point to uncontrolled diabetes. Bilirubin indicates liver disorders, while crystals suggest kidney stones.
This simple test helps detect infections, kidney, liver, and metabolic disorders early.
You should get a urine routine examination if you have burning or painful urination, frequent urination, cloudy or foul-smelling urine, blood in the urine, lower abdominal or back pain, or swelling. It is also recommended during pregnancy, routine check-ups, and for monitoring diabetes, kidney disease, or high blood pressure.
For a urine routine examination, collect the first morning urine if possible. Clean the genital area, let the first part of the stream pass, then collect the midstream urine in a sterile container. Deliver it to the lab within 1–2 hours. Avoid testing during menstruation, and inform your doctor about any medicines or vitamins you take.
No, fasting is not required for a urine routine examination. You can eat and drink normally before the test. A first morning, midstream urine sample is preferred for accurate results. Avoid drinking excessive water just before collection, as it can dilute the urine and affect the results.
